SEAFARERS EDUCATION

We don't only supply the vessel. We build the crew that runs it.

AVS Global Ship Supply has spent 40+ years at the operational centre of the maritime industry — 126 countries, 1500+ ports, 150,000+ orders delivered. That experience tells us exactly which skills hold up at sea. Through Ekol Maritime Training Center in Istanbul, we turn it into certified, sea-ready seafarers — and keep developing them long after the certificate is issued.

THE AVS DIFFERENCE

Most maritime schools train to the syllabus. AVS trains to the voyage.

Ekol Maritime Training Center isn't a school we sponsor — it's how AVS builds the skills the industry is about to need. Because we provision vessels, manage galleys and support crews every day, we see the gap between a certificate and real onboard performance. And we're in a position to close it.

01

WE SEE THE REQUIREMENT FIRST

Fleet-level supply and catering operations across 126 countries and 1500+ ports expose emerging competency gaps long before they reach a standard syllabus.

02

WE BUILD IT INTO THE CURRICULUM

Ekol holds the authority to run 90+ accredited courses, which means a new competency requirement can be designed, approved and taught quickly rather than in years.

03

WE TRAIN IT UNDER REAL CONDITIONS

Over 30 simulators, laboratories and workshops, plus full practical training at our Beykoz Marine Safety facility, put the requirement into the trainee's hands rather than into a slide.

04

WE PLACE THE SEAFARER — AND KEEP GOING

Ekol Private Employment Agency handles cadet berths and first employment. Once onboard, the AVS learning platform continues the development that shore-based training started. The loop closes.

Built for the conditions crews actually face.

Ekol Maritime Training Center sits in Istanbul, one of the world's principal maritime hubs, with practical training at our dedicated Marine Safety facility in Beykoz. This isn't a classroom exercise — fire, survival, rescue and navigation skills are learned in the environment they'll actually be used in.

When other institutions need a practical training facility, they come to ours.

Since July 2015, our Beykoz Marine Safety Practical Training Center has trained not only Ekol students but cadets from various leading maritime universities and institutions in Istanbul. In terms of facilities, it is one of the most comprehensive and advanced in the region.

GLOBAL GALLEY TALENT

We train the cooks who cook our provisions.

AVS supplies provisions and manages catering for fleets across 126 countries — and trains the people who turn those provisions into meals. That's why our culinary programme doesn't start from a cookbook. It starts from operational reality: multinational crews, limited galley space, long voyages, MLC 2006 standards and a fixed man-day budget.

01

CHEF, COOK & STEWARD TRAINING

Dedicated programmes for every galley and hotel services role onboard — the people who carry crew morale and welfare day after day.

02

MULTINATIONAL MENU COMPETENCE

Cooking for mixed nationalities is a skill. Our galley staff are trained to plan menus that satisfy culturally diverse crews from a single provision list.

03

FOOD SAFETY, HYGIENE & MLC 2006

Nutrition, hygiene protocol and food safety practice aligned with MLC 2006 expectations and inspection readiness.

04

MAN-DAY COST & WASTE DISCIPLINE

Galley teams trained to protect quality inside a fixed man-day budget, with portioning, stock rotation and waste reduction treated as core competencies.

05

OFFSHORE & DRILLING EXPERIENCE

We manage around 100 catering personnel across drilling vessels and platforms. Offshore is not theory for us; it is an operation we run.

06

CERTIFIED QUALITY

Our training and personnel consultancy operations are certified by Türk Loydu, a classification body, and are subject to periodic annual audit.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What fleet operators and seafarers most often ask before starting a training programme with AVS.

Because AVS isn't only a training provider — we supply vessels in 126 countries and 1500+ ports, and manage catering and galley operations at sea. That means we see which skills hold up under real conditions, and feed it straight back into the curriculum. An independent school trains to the syllabus. We train to the voyage.

Yes. Ekol is authorised to run 90+ accredited courses and can design custom programmes around your vessel type, trading area, crew mix and existing certification gaps. Start with the corporate enquiry form and our team will scope it with you.

Both. Ekol Private Employment Agency is İŞKUR-registered and MLC 2006-aligned, covering deck, engine and catering/hotel personnel at every rank. Selection includes competency screening, personality assessment and interview boards staffed by specialists.

IMO Model Courses — including 7.03 (navigational watch) and 7.04 (engineering watch) — plus STCW and non-STCW certificates spanning safety, medical, simulation, engineering, compliance and chef / cook / steward / housekeeping programmes. See the full course catalogue for the complete list.

30+ simulators, laboratories and workshops — including navigation bridge, ECDIS, engine room, liquid cargo, GMDSS and survival craft simulators. Practical fire, survival and rescue training runs at our Beykoz Marine Safety Practical Training Center, which also hosts students from various leading maritime universities and institutions in Istanbul.

Yes — it's one of our strongest areas. We train chefs, cooks, stewards and housekeeping staff for multinational crews: food safety, MLC 2006 standards, hygiene, nutrition and cost/waste discipline. We also manage around 100 catering staff on drilling vessels and offshore platforms ourselves, so the training is grounded in real operations.

Yes. Cadet berth placement and employment support are free for every Ekol trainee. For our two-year deck and engine officer trainees, the cadet berth problem — one of the sector's biggest bottlenecks — is effectively solved.
